CertificationPlus @ Covenant Theological Seminary

CertificationPlus is a continuing education opportunity for our Children’s Ministry Certification Graduates. CDM believes that churches will be strengthened as Children’s Ministry Leaders continue learning together.

Course Description for EM301 – Educational Foundations at Covenant Theological Seminary

How can varied church ministries intentionally engage people in a teaching/learning process to grow towards maturity in Christ? This course explores some central issues involved: biblical and theological foundations of educational ministry, teaching and learning theories and methods, human development, intercultural dynamics in teaching and learning, curriculum planning, administration, and team building. We will make specific applications to a variety of ministries, accounting for children, youth, adult, senior adult, intergenerational events, and small groups. Learning tasks involve field testing, so involvement in local ministry during course is recommended.

Costs:

  • Due upon registration: $20* to CDM to reserve your spot. (Because we highly value continuing education for children’s ministry leaders, the Teach Us to Worship program is covering a significant portion of the original $300 fee due to CDM for the 2024 offering.)
  • Due later: $200* to Covenant Theological Seminary.
  • Participants are responsible for travel, lodging, and food for the 3 day/3 night residency on October 17-19, 2024 in St. Louis. The residency is not required but is highly encouraged to get the most out of the learning experience. You will spend time with other students, the faculty, and the other participants of the CDM cohort. All details will be discussed once the cohort is underway.

*$20 registration covers CDM cohort led by facilitator on Zoom platform. $200 to CTS covers auditor application and course fee, use of Canvas platform, and digital resources.
